Prose for Pros

T’was the month before year end and all through the land,

Not a fundraiser is sleeping, our phones close at hand.

Visions of task lists dance lively in our heads,

“There’s still time” we decide, rising early from our beds.

Events are wrapped up, the gifts have been booked,

We’re dreaming that nothing has been overlooked.

The photos are posted, the thank you notes mailed,

From comments by patrons, all was well nailed.

The mailings have dropped, with the help of the team,

Everyone is eager for the results to be seen.

We keenly await gifts as the days grow much shorter,

Without any doubt, this will be our best quarter.

Many personal conversations we steadfastly held,

Moves management strategies starting to meld.

Committed to them, we stay donor centered,

Their likes and dislikes are properly entered.

We asked and they listened,

In our hearts, the hope glistened.

Knowing their generosity would abound,

If a strong connection could be found.

Proudly sharing true stories of impact, we do,

Ensuring with each that our mission comes through.

Cultivation is key, sincere gratitude our driver,

We’re hopeful they know that they couldn’t be finer.

Reviewing our lists and checking them twice,

We’re trusting our donors will be extra nice.

At the end of the day, one thing is for certain,

The decision is theirs; it comes down to the person.

The data, the numbers, analytics and more,

We look to next year making plans galore.

We’ll compile our metrics, benchmarks, reports,

Sharing in smart dashboards stats of all sorts.

Before long New Year’s Eve will come ringing,

And January a fresh start will be bringing.

For now, we have hope that our effort to expand,

Will bring strong results if all goes as planned.

So cheers to those who have done yeoman’s work,

Making life better for all, you deserve a quick perk.

Take a moment to ponder the difference you’ve made,

Recipient gratitude can never be truly conveyed.
